Hot plates, famously known as "teppanyaki" in Japan, hold a cultural significance ingrained in the country's heritage.

Since the ancient pit dwellings of the Jomon period (14,000-4,000 B.C.), such as the ’Irori‘, the hearth occupied a central role, fire has symbolized more than just cooking. It served as a gathering place for family disscussions, a source of warmth, and a hub of culinary activity.

The teppanyaki hot plate represents a modern iteration of the cherished 'Irori' culture, where families and friends gathered together around the hearth. Traditionally, the ‘Irori’ stood as the heart of the home, fostering a cozy atmosphere that seamlessly combined kitchen, dining, and living spaces.

Introduced in the mid-20th century, the teppanyaki hot plate has become a staple in Japasenes households, with approximately 80% of homes owning at least one. It not only fasilitates cooking but also embodies a cultural legacy that transcends mere culinary utility.
